Of the total number of males who died, viz. 142, the occupation
of 128 is definitely stated, four were children, and 10 had no
occupation.
Labourers and clerks again head the list as in previous years.
Among females, out of 119 deaths, 25 were engaged in some
occupation, 85 were widows, wives or children of labourers, artisans,
workmen or clerks, while nine had no occupation. Of the 25
whose occupation was given, 11 were domestic servants, three
were dressmakers, two were shop assistants, one a clerk, ont- a
charwoman, one a flower-seller, one a milliner, one a nurse, one a
rag and bone sorter, one a teacher, one a tailoress, and one a
laundress.
Voluntary Notification of Consumption.
During the year 49 cases of Consumption were notified by
medical practitioners, two from Clapham, two from Streatham,
two from Tooting, and 43 from Wandsworth.
