In the Borough, with the exception of the Workhouse, 133.
illegitimate births were registered, 31 in Clapham, nine in Putney,
31 in Streatham, 21 in Tooting, and 41 in Wandsworth.
The total number of illegitimate births was 189, 37 of which
belonged to Clapham, 14 to Putney, 47 to Streatham, 31 to Tooting,
and 60 to Wandsworth, compared with 203 in 1906, and 165
in 1905.
The percentage of illegitimate births to total births was 2'68,
compared with 2.87 in 1906, 2.4 in 1905, and 3.9 for the whole of
London for 1906.

The following Table shows the percentage of illegitimate births to total births for each sub-district and for the whole Borough for the year, and for the two previous years.

Deaths.
During the 52 weeks ending the 28th December, 1907, 3,337
deaths, 1,555 of males and 1,782 of females were registered in the
Borough, compared with 3,341 in 1906, 3,241 in 1905, and 3,296 in
1904.
The total number of deaths is four less than in 1906, and 751
less than the decennial average corrected for increase of
population.
