On the 10th February the Sub-Committee passed a vote of
sympathy to Lady Stawell on the death of her brother, the late Canon
Greene, Rector of Clapham, who was for seventeen years Chairman
of the Clapham Library Commissioners and Committees.
The Sub-Committee desire to express their cordial thanks to the
various donors of books, periodicals, pictures, etc., during the past year.
These include a bequest by the late Canon Greene of a selection of
his books and local prints.
The Borough Council in November, 1907, appointed the Mayor
(Alderman Lorden), Alderman Bulcraig, and Councillors Cundall,
Downer, Law, Monday, and Richardson, as the Sub-Committee for
the Clapham Library for 1908. Councillor Downer was elected
chairman, and a vote of thanks was passed to Alderman Bulcraig for
his services as chairman during the previous two years.
H. E. Hott, junior assistant, was appointed a second assistant
in the West Hill Library in November, 1907, and J. C. Castle has
been appointed a junior assistant in the Clapham Library.
The Sub-Committee have great pleasure in again expressing their
appreciation of the satisfactory and efficient manner in which the
Librarian and his Staff have discharged their duties.
On behalf of the Sub-Committee,
HAROLD G. DOWNER,
Chairman.
