sums in substitution for the fees payable to them as incumbents
of Putney and Roehampton respectively in respect of interments
at the Putney Cemeteries. This arrangement will, under the provisions
of the Burial Act, 1900, terminate in 1915.
Parish Funerals.
139. The rule relating to the times of funerals at the Council's
cemeteries has been amended so as to provide that
the Parish, Asylum, and Prison funerals shall take
place at the following fixed times, viz. At half-past three
o'clock during the months of November to February, and at a
quarter-past four o'clock during the months of March to October,
the Council being of opinion that these times would be more
suitable to the relatives of the deceased than twelve o'clock noon,
the time at which these funerals usually took place previously.
Fees, Charges,
Rules and
Regulations.
140. The book of fees, charges, rules, and regulations in force
at the Council's cemeteries has been revised, and
application is being made for the approval, where
necessary, of the Local Government Board to the
proposed amendments. The principal alterations are in the rules
relating to the fees to be charged in respect of non-parishioners,
and for the re-opening of graves. The planting and turfing fees
were also revised, and some of the charges reduced.
Claim for
Burial Fees.
141. The Rector of Tooting has renewed his claim, made in
July, 1904, for payment of fees other than for services
rendered in respect of matters arising in the
burial grounds used for the purposes of the Borough. The
Council is advised that it is not liable for such fees, and decided
to defend any action which may be brought in the matter.
