45- Clause 23 provided for a contribution by each of the Boroughs
where widenings were to be carried out, of oneĀ»:hird of the nett cost
thereof.
46. Clause 37 proposed to amend Section 12 of the London
County Tramways (Electrical Power) Act, 1900, relating to thedrainage
of tramway rails and the removal therefrom of the accumulations of
matter by providing that such accumulations should be deposited by
the County Council in any receptacle for street refuse provided by the
Road Authority in the street, and be removed by the Road Authority
as other street refuse.
47. This Council objected to the proposal to construct a loop line
along Queen's Road, Heath Road and Silverthorne Road, being of
opinion that the portion of Wandsworth Road between Silverthorne
Road and Queen's Road should be widened, and a double line of
tramways constructed there, and also suggested the widening of
Wandsworth Road near Union Grove and Nursery Street, and a small
widening at East Hill, and that this Council's contribution towards
the cost of improvements should be limited to a specified sum.
This Council also objected to the proposed amendment of Section 12
of the Electrical Power Act, 1900. That section, which provided
that the County Council shall remove all matter removed from the
conduit or grooves of tramway rails, was inserted at the instance of
the late Wandsworth Board of Works, and has worked satisfactorily.
48. The County Council did not agree to this Council's suggestion
as to the construction and re-construction of the tramways in
this Borough, and as this Council adhered to its objections the provisions
relating thereto were withdrawn from the Bill.
49. The clause relating to the removal of matter taken from the
conduits and grooves of tramways was withdrawn and a new clause
inserted empowering the County Council and Road Authorities to
enter into agreements for such removal.
50. The Bill as amended, was passed and received Royal Assent
on the 21 st August, 1907.
51. This Bill would authorise the Medical Officer of the County
Council to take samples of milk produced, sold or
intended for sale within the county, to enter dairies
London County
