Of the total number of cases notified, 30 were incorrectly
diagnosed, leaving a total of 531, compared with 312 in 1905, and
347 in 1904. Of these 531 cases, 225 or 42.3 per cent. were not
in attendance at any school, compared with 47 per cent. in 1905,
while 306 or 57.7 per cent. were at school, compared with 52.6 in
1905.
48 cases occurred in connection with private schools, a considerable
increase compared with last year, and 16 attended
schools outside the Borough.
With the exception of Brandlehow Road School, Wandsworth,
where seven cases occurred in January, six in February
and 18 during the year, there were no schools where exceptional
increase was noted.
The following special report on this outbreak was made on
the 8th February:—
"I have to report the occurrence of an outbreak of Diphtheria
in connection with Brandlehow Road School, Wandsworth.
