Infantile Mortality.
The total number of deaths under one year was 874, compared
with 818 in 1905, 851 in 1904, 743 in 1903, and 809 in 1902.
Of these, 155 occurred in Clapham, 66 in Putney, 201 in Streatham,
150 in Tooting, and 302 in Wandsworth.
The infantile mortality was 125 per 1,000 births, compared
with 118 in 1905, 123 in 1904, 110 in 1903, and 126 in 1902.
In the sub-districts this rate was 111 in Clapham, compared
with 113 in 1905, and 122 the decennial average; 128 in Putney,
compared with 109 and 129; 113 in Streatham, compared with 99
and 116; 146 in Tooting, compared with 148 and 147; and 131 in
Wandsworth, compared with 128 and 140.
Although the rate in 1906 was higher than in the three
previous years, yet it was six per 1,000 under the decennial
average in the Borough, and in each sub-district it was also lower
than the decennial average.

The following Table shows the number of deaths, the percentage to total deaths, the rate per 1 ,000 births for the year and for the three previous years for each sub-district and for the whole Borough.
