although the estimated increase of the population was 24,400.
The following Table shows the birth-rate in the Borough, in
the five sub-districts, in London, and in England and Wales, for
the year, as well as the rates for the previous 10 years, compared
with the decennial average.

The birth-rate in Table I. of the Local Government Board's
Tables is calculated from the uncorrected population and is lower
than the rate calculated from the corrected population.
The birth-rate in each of the sub-districts, with the exception
of Tooting, is lower than the decennial average, the greatest
