On the 1st January, 1907, at the St. Albans Quarter Sessions, a
person was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labour,
for stealing Kelly's Handbook to the Tilled and Official Classes from
the Reference Library.
By order of the Council the blacking out of betting news in the
newspapers placed in the Reading Rooms has been discontinued.
The Sub-Committee desire to express their cordial thanks to the
various donors of books, periodicals, etc., during the past year.
The Borough Council in November, 1906, appointed Aldermen
Bulcraig and Kipling, and Councillors Cundall, Downer, Lidiard,
Monday and Richardson, as the Sub-Committee for the Clapham
Library for 1907. Alderman Bulcraig was re-elected chairman,
and a vote of thanks passed to him for his services in that capacity
during the previous year.
No alteration has been made in the staff, and the Sub-Committee
again have pleasure in reporting their satisfaction of the efficient
services of the Librarian and his staff of assistants.
On behalf of the Sub-Committee,
HENRY BULCRAIG,
Chairman.
6th May, 1907.
