111. The County Council gave notice of its intention to provide
a public elementary school for about 1,100
children on land adjoining Southfield Council
School, and to acquire an additional site in the district for future
school requirements. This Council pointed out that when the site
of the existing school was acquired it was the intention of the late
School Board to retain the land not required for the present building

County Council and stated that having carefully reviewed the correspondence
between the Borough Council, the County Council,
and the Board on the subject they were not prepared to re-open
the question of building a school on the Southfields site, and were
unable to see that any useful purpose would be served by receiving
the proposed deputation. The subject is still under the consideration
of the Council.
