Public Health.
This Bill provided amongst other things
that a Sanitary Inspector should only be
removable by the Sanitary Authority with the consent
of the Local Government Board, or by that Board.
The Wandsworth District Board were of opinion that
Sanitary Inspectors should remain as at present under
the control of the Authority by whom they are
employed. The Bill was not passed.
No action was taken with regard to the other

Wandsworth and
Putney Gas Bill.
As stated in the last Annual Report, the
Wandsworth District Board continued their
opposition to this Bill in the House of
Lords; the London County Council also opposed the Bill
with the view of placing the Company under the same
conditions with respect to the examination of gas
as the three great Metropolitan Companies; the Board
supported the application of the Council and also asked
for a reduction in the standard price; and the Battersea
Vestry supported the views of the Board in the matter.
After hearing the evidence of the promotors and counsel
on behalf of the London County Council and the
Board, the House of Lords Committee decided to
report that the preamble of the Bill was proved.
Upon consideration of clauses the Board obtained the
insertion of provisions for:—
1. The widening of Warple Way and widenings of North
Street on its eastern and western sides at its junction
with Warple Way.
