To the Board of Works for the Wandsworth District.
Gentlemen,
We have the honour to present our Annual Report
on the Health, Sanitary Condition, and Vital Statistics
of the Wandsworth District, for the year 1897.
We may congratulate you on the healthiness of
the District, as shown in the report, both by the lowness
of the death-rate and the small amount of fatal preventible
disease. As the area of the District is more and
more filled up by buildings, we expect these figures to
become higher from increased density of population, so
that it is satisfactory to find that, on the contrary, they
have tended to decrease in the last two years. You will
also find evidence in the report of the very large amount
of sanitary work that has been carried out in the year,
work which tends yearly to increase in extent and
importance.
We have the honour to remain,
Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servants,
THE MEDICAL OFFICERS OF HEALTH
for the Wandsworth District.
