Another advantage undoubtedly gained by the Act would be to
mpress the public mind generally with the serious nature of the
disease and the necessity for greater care and isolation. For these
reasons we are of the opinion that it would be to the public advantage
to include measles in the list of diseases under the Notification Act.
9 th May, 1891.
We beg to submit the answers we have received from the several
Medical Officers of Health of towns in which the notification of measles
has been adopted, in reply to questions referring to the above subject.
It will be seen from the general tenor of the replies that they furnish
corroboration of the views we have had the honour of expressing in
our report of the 9th May, 1891.
