Ages at Death, of the total deaths 22-2 per cent were of
infants under 1 year, and 27*8 of persons over 60 years
of age.
The Infantile Mortality is expressed in the following
figures:—
Deaths under i year per 1,000 births—
Clapham 149 per 1,000
Putney 154 „
Streatham 112 „
Tooting 196 „
Wandsworth 155 ,,
Whole District 144 ,,
This rate is higher than in the previous year when it
reached the very exceptional figure of 105. The rate
for London was 162.
Causes of
Mortality.
Table VII. allows a comparison to be made
between the year 1890 and the preceding years
since the separation of Battersea.
Table VII. showing the total number of deaths and
their causes registered in the entire district during the 4
years 1887—90 with the relative number of each class
of disease.
