The birth-rate per thousand living was 29.5. In the
previous year the birth-rate of the district exclusive of
Battersea was almost the same. Inclusive of Batterse;
it was 33.7 per thousand. The rate of natural increase
of the population, or excess of births over deaths was 16.1
Deaths.
The total number of deaths registered during
the year was 1,964—964 males and 1,000 females. The
death-rates in the different sub-districts are compared in
Table II.
