Sickness and
Mortality
among: Parochial
Poor.
The nature, amount and fatality of the
sickness that occurred among the parochial
poor in the several sub-districts are set forth
in Table XIII., which forms a valuable index of the
sickness occurring in the district generally.
The total number of cases coming under treatment
was 3,937, as compared with 3,364 in the previous year.
The proportion of deaths to cases treated was 3.6 per
cent., as compared with 3.1 per cent, in the previous
year.
Sanitary
Operations
of the year.
A study of Table XIV. will shew the detailed
sanitary work carried out in each subdistrict
during the past year, and the results obtained.
This table embodies the measures which are being
steadily and persistently taken by your Sanitary Officers
to prevent the spread of disease, and remove the local
unsanitary conditions to which disease is so frequently
due.
