the kind, viz:—4 Enteric Fever, and 4 Scarlatina were
sent into the Metropolitan Asylum Board Hospitals
during the year, and all recovered. The smallness of
the number sent into hospital was due to the circumstance
that the prevalent diseases were those for which
hospital accommodation is not, but ought to be, provided.
The following table shews the months in which the
deaths from epidemic diseases occurred and the mean
temperature of each quarter of the year. By far the
greater majority of the deaths is seen to have occurred,
as in the previous year, in the first and third quarters;
the bulk of those in the latter was due to Diarrhoea, and
was attributable, as pointed out by the Registrar-General
in his annual summary, to the hot weather that prevailed
through the summer months.
