The official mean population for the whole Parish
for the year 1885 was 130,971.
The births registered during the year were 5,054,
and the birth-rate was 38.58 per thousand. The birthrate
for London was 32.6 per thousand.
The deaths recorded were 2,466, which would give
a resulting death-rate of 18.08 per thousand, but if the
deaths of 124 non-parishioners in the Union Infirmary
are deducted, the death-rate would be equal to 17.88
per thousand, the Metropolitan mortality for the year
being 19.7 per thousand.
