CLAPHAM.
As I have remarked in former reports, the following form
of table has an especial value in marking the social and
sanitary advancement of this increasing township. It will,
moreover, furnish a good groundwork for the observations
I shall have to offer upon some other statistical tables
relating to the past year (1872), a year which I am pleased
to say contrasts most favourably with the preceding one.
The year 1871 will be ever memorable for its epidemic of
Small Pox, just as 1872 will be for its comparatively low
rate of mortality; the same as after most cholera years,
which in each instance has been followed by one of comparative
mildness in respect to the fatality of Zymotic, and
most other diseases.
