CLAPHAM.
The fluctuations in the number of births and deaths in
a community, have, of course, a very important bearing
upon all sanitary enquiries; but the variations in the
number of marriages from year to year, is of no less
significance as a means of measuring human happiness
and social progress. I therefore, as in former years, commence
my report with a table, having for its object the
shewing of these fluctuations in a concise form, and for a
series of years, dating from 1856, the period at which the
Local Management Act came into operation.
