neighbourhoods, by offering to a few of the more industrious and
provident families the means of isolating themselves from the
pauperizing influences which unfortunately abound in most localities
occupied by the very poor. The cottages referred to, are, in point
of domestic arrangements and sanitary appliances, all that can be
desired, and it is hoped efforts will be made to supply more of them.
It may be hardly necessary to remark, it is by such efforts as these
to encourage cleanliness and provident habits amongst the industrious
classes, that the benefits derivable from sanitation are greatly
enhanced, and the moral and social well-being of a community the
more effectually secured.
