SMOKE CONTROL ORDERS
CLEAN AIR ACT, 1956 APPROVAL OP NEW FURNACES
Under Section 3 of the Clean Air Act, 1965, notice must be given of the
installation of new furnaces of a capacity greater than 55.000 B T. U's per
hour. During the course of the year notice has been given of six such
installations, details of which are as follows:-
(a) Installation of one gas fired boiler rated at 1,125,000 B. T. U s per hour.
(b) Installation of two oil-fired boilers each rated at 4,000,000 B T U s
per hour.
(c) Installation of two oil-fired boilers each rated at 150,000 B.T.U s
per hour.
(d) Installation of oil-fired boiler rated at 76,000 - 90,000 B.T.U's
per hour.
(e) Installation of oil-fired boiler rated at 200,000 B T.U's per hour.
(f) Installation of oil-fired boiler rated at 54,000 B.T U's per hour.

Drainage Applications (Section 34 - Public Health (London) Act, 1936)
During the year 55 Drainage Applications and plans were approved by the
Council.
Public Health (London) Act, 1936 - Section 95
Certificates have been issued in respect of the provision of a proper and
sufficient supply of water at the undermentioned dwellings:

Water Supply
The water supply for the borough is controlled by the Metropolitan Water
Board and is supplied to 12,686 dwellings containing a population of 52,830
direct from public water mains Standpipes are used only in cases of emergency.
Bacteriological and chemical examinations of the raw water are carried
out by the Metropolitan Water Board and the supply has been satisfactory in
quality and quantity.
Pet Animals Act, 1951
At the end of 1964, six licences, issued under this Act were in operation
and six inspections of premises were carried out by the Public Health Inspectors.
