drivers were engaged to deliver the meals.
The full daily service was brought into operation on the 1st
October. The number of housebound persons gradually increased and it
became necessary to ask the Council to purchase a second vehicle and to
provide additional staff.
The Kosher meals are prepared at the Victoria (Hackney) Kosher meals
on wheels service in Egerton Road and the ordinary meals in the staff
canteen at the Town Hall.
Figures of the number of meals delivered will be found in the main
body of the report.
My thanks are expressed to the Chairman and Members of the Public
Health Committee for their support and to the Chief Officers of other
departments for their help and co-operation.
Finally, my thanks are extended to my Deputy and to the members of
the staff of the Public Health Department for their assistance throughout
the year.
S. KING
