SUMMARY OF ENQUIRIES MADE AT THE PUBLIC HEALTH
DEPARTMENT
During the year, 2,735 enquiries were dealt with at the Public Health
Department counter and are analysed below:-

During the year, 63 Drainage Applications and plans were approved by
the Council.

Public Health (London) Act. 1936-Section 95

Certificates have been issued in respect of the provision of a proper and sufficient supply of water at the undermentioned dwellings:-

Water Supply
The water supply of the Borough is controlled by the Metropolitan
Water Board, and is supplied direct to the dwelling houses.
No complaint was received during the year regarding the supply,
either as to quality or quantity.
12,215 dwellings containing a population of 52,180 are supplied from
public water mains direct to the dwellings.
Pet Animals Act. 1951
At the end of 1961 seven licences, issued under this Act, were in
operation and fifteen inspections of premises were carried out by the
Public Health Inspectors.
Houses in Multiple Occupation
39 inspections were made of houses in multiple occupation.
Land Charges Act. 1925
667 enquiries were referred to the department by the Town Clerk
relating to outstanding statutory or informal notices, combined drainage
orders or any other orders and restrictions oh the properties concerned.
