16 notices were served under the Food Hygiene Regulations and subsequen
visits by the Inspectors showed the necessary works to comply with the regulations
either completed or in course of completion.
Health Education was continued by the display of posters and the issue
of leaflets and pamphlets on many important public health matters, including
food hygiene, infectious disease and accidents in the home.
125 samples were taken during the year under the Food and Drugs Act and
found to be satisfactory.
Stoke Newington has continued to press ahead with its application of
Clean Air Act. During 1960 the Stoke Newington (No.2) and (No.3) Smoke Control
Orders came into operation. It is proposed to make a total of 10 Smok
Control Orders, and if the present rate of progress is maintained, the last
Order will come into operation on 1st October, 1963. During 1960, a total
of 3,865 visits were made in carrying out detailed surveys and a further 2,4
visits were made to advise on the adaptation of fireplaces and other matters

As from the 1st January, 1960, arrangements were made with the Islingt???
Borough Council for the treatment of Stoke Newington residents suffering fi???
scabies and verminous conditions.
