Surface Treatment
During the year 1953 treatment of the Borough in accordance with
the recommendations of the Ministiy of Agriculture and Fisheries
continued. Complaints received by the department, showing a comparison
with the year 1952, are set out below: -

Sewer Treatments
During the year, two treatments of the Council's Sewers were
carried out as follows:-
First Treatment (No.17)
This was carried out at follows:-
Pre-Baiting 18th & 19th May, 1953
Poison Baiting 20th May, 1953
Check of Poison Bait 21st May, 1953
Bait base and poison used Sausage rusk & zinc phosphide
267 Manholes were baited and 222 showed 'takes' of pre-bait.
The estimated kill based on 'takes' of poison bait was 1410.
Second Treatment (No.18)
This was carried out as follows:-
Pre-Baiting 30th November and 1st December,1953
Poison Baiting 2nd December,1953
Check of Poison Bait 3rd December,1953
Bait base and poison used Sausage rusk and zinc phosphide.
267 Manholes were baited and 176 showed 'takes' of pre-bait.
The estimated kill based on 'takes' of poison bait was 870.
