Metropolitan Borough of Stoke Newington
REPORT OF THE MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH
FOR THE YEAR 1951
public health department,
town hall,
stoke newington, n.16
TO THE MAYOR, ALDERMEN AND COUNCILLORS
OF THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH OF STOKE NEWINGTON.
This Annual Report is presented in the form required by the Ministry
of Health. Shortly after the circulation of this Report, Dr. S. King,
formerly Medical Officer of Health for the Borough for many years prior
to his appointment to the Divisional Medical Officership of the London
County Council in 1948, will have again taken up the appointment of
Medical Officer of Health of the Borough on a part-time basis in combination
with his duties as Divisional Medical Officer.
Dr. King, as Divisional Medical Officer, is responsible for the Personal
Health Services in Hackney, Shoreditch and Stoke Newington,
and has administered the Personal Services of Stoke Newington from
the Divisional Offices of the London County Council. He has remained
in close touch with the work of the Public Health Department in Stoke
Newington and his return to the duties of Medical Officer of Health for
the Borough will not only present no difficulty to him but will improve
the smooth administration of both Division and Borough.
Dr. King will also continue, as I have done, to receive the capable and
willing assistance of Dr. Stott, Deputy Medical Officer of Health, whose
assistance, always available, has been so helpful as regards old, infirm
persons and cases of infectious disease and in emergencies generally.
