London County Council—Woodberry Down Estate
During the year under review, the Woodberry Down Primary School
was completed and handed over. 225 flats in 9 blocks were completed.
The estate of cottages and maisonettes with flats over, in Green Lanes
(a total of 109 dwellings) was completed and occupied.
The Old People's Home (New River Lodge) affording accommodation
for 92 persons of either sex, with the necessary staff, was completed
and occupied.
Additional work was started on 15 lock-up shops with 15 flats over,
in Woodberry Grove; the superstructure to the Abney Primary School at
the rear of Bethune Road and Fairholt Road; and the site was cleared
for the erection of a further seven blocks of flats comprising 175 dwellings,
on the north side of Woodberry Grove.
Work continued throughout the year on the Health Centre and Day
Nursery, Green Lanes, and on the foundations for the Woodberry Down
Comprehensive School.
The total number of dwellings completed and occupied to date
is 1,444.
