Work carried out in default under the Housing Act, 1936
37, 39 and 41, Millard Road, N.16
In this case the Public Health Committee gave authority for the
service of formal notices under Section 9 of the Housing Act, 1936. The
premises were originally inspected in March, 1950, and Preliminary
Notices were served.
The defects consisted of defective roofs and guttering, dirty walls
and ceilings, defective fireplaces, defective sinks, and dampness. On
several occasions promises had been made to remedy these defects, but
only works of a minor nature were carried out.
The owner subsequently admitted that she was unable to have the
work done and agreed that the Council should effect the necessary repairs
and recover the cost from the rents of the properties.
The total cost of the works was £358 0s. Od.
