CLEAN FOOD CAMPAIGN
In connection with the setting up of a Clean Food Guild in the
Borough, a comprehensive list of persons trading in the Borough was
compiled by the Food Inspector. This list included greengrocers, fishmongers,
butchers, bakers, confectioners, publicans, dairymen, ice-cream
salesmen and restauranteurs.
Invitations were sent to approximately 350 tradesmen and representatives
of various trade organisations to attend an Inaugural Meeting of
the Guild. This Meeting was held in the small Library Hall in May and
was attended by approximately 70 persons.
His Worship the Mayor (Alderman Miss Dorothy M. Burt, J.P.),
opened the Meeting and expressed regret that the film "Another Case of
Food Poisoning" could not be obtained.
