ARTIFICIAL LIGHT CLINICS.
During the year 114 children made 1,660 attendances for treatment at
the Mildmay Memorial Hospital Sunlight Clinic.
At the British Red Cross Clinic, Dalston Lane, Hackney, 45 children
attended 719 times and were given 1,085 treatments.
STOKE NEWINGTON DISPENSARY,
5,612 patients were treated at the Stoke Newington Dispensary, making
1,022 attendances. In addition, 391 home visits were made.
HCME HELPS.
Services of Home Helps were used on 67 occasions at a cost to the
Council of £405 2s.10d.
DOMESTIC HELPS.
A scheme for providing Domestic Assistance to persons resident in the
Borough and suffering from illness or infirmity, was introduced on the
5th March, 1945 and up to the 31st December, 68 persons were assisted under
this scheme, at a net cost (reimbursed by the Ministry of Health) of
£404.18s.8d.
INSTITUTIONAL AND OTHER PROVISIONS FOR MOTHERS OR CHILDREN.
Grants were made by the Council as follows
£4 3s.Od. in aid of convalescent treatment of 4 children under
school age,
7s. 6d. towards the cost of an interview and examination of one
child at a Child Guidance Clinic.
HEALTH VISITORS.
The total number of visits made by the Health Visitors was 7,316.
CHILD LIFE PROTECTION.
9 children in the care of 7 foster-mothers were visited On 113
occasions.
SUPPLY OF SHEETS FOR EXPECTANT MOTHERS.
309 priority dockets were issued to expectant mothers who were to be
confined in their own homes.
SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA-
8,941 inspections and re-inspections were oarried out by the Sanitary
Inspectors. Included in this total number were 82 inspections after
notification of Infectious Diseases, 1,241 upon complaint, 1,429 to Food
Premises and 79 to Factories and Workshops.
1,282 Sanitary Dofects were found and remedied,
541 Intimation Notices and 85 Statutory Notices were served.
INFESTATION ORDER, 1943.
A routine maintenance treatment of the sowars was carried out to the
Ministry of Food's satisfaction in February, 1945.
