Removal of Infirm Persons in Certain Cases
By Section 28, of the London County Council (General Powers)
Act, 1928, power is given to remove infirm and diseased persons,
living under insanitary conditions, to institutions where they can
receive adequate care and medical attention.
Frequently such persons are amenable, by persuasion, to enter
a local hospital, but sometimes it is necessary to make application
to a Magistrate for a Detention Order, which provides authority
for such person to be maintained in an institution for a period of
three months.
It is necessary to apply to the Magistrate for an extension to
the original order at three monthly intervals.
No new cases under this section of the Act had to be dealt
with during the year, but extension orders were applied for and
granted in the case of one aged and infirm person who had been
removed to the Hackney Institution in July, 1933.

great educational value in all matters relating to health and hygiene.
Copies are distributed to mothers attending the welfare Centres,
Head Teachers of the elementary schools of the borough, Councillors,
and members of the public who intimate a wish to be supplied
