There is no institutional provision for unmarried mothers,
illegitimate infants or homeless children in the Borough.
Ambulance Facilities.(a). For infectious cases ambulances
are provided by the London County Council ('phone: City 7200),
free.
(b). For non-infectious cases the London County Council have
special ambulances on payment: minimum Fee, twelve shillings
and sixpence.
For Accident cases the London County Council provide ambulances
('phone: Hop 5000).
CLINICS AND TREATMENT CENTRES.
l. Maternity and Child Welfare Centres.—There are
two Centres in the Borough owned and staffed by the Council.
(a). Barton House, 233, Albion Road. Two large rooms
warmed by guarded coal tires. Four smaller rooms
warmed by guarded gas fires and electric radiators.
