Nevertheless, there is a place for it. The following should be
noted for 1927:
1. Better Health. — The free distribution of this national
Public Health Journal, to the number of 1,000 copies
monthly, was begun in October. Efforts have been
made to place it in the hands of all the school
teachers of the Borough and others likely to make
use of its instruction. There is a ready demand for
it, and many readers have expressed their appreciation.
This Journal is the official organ of the National
Council on Health Education, and its popular teaching
is the best that can be obtained in the country. No
better medium of diffusing health information through
the written word exists at present.
The Journal has been used by the Medical Officer
of Health to announce matters of local interest.
2. Public Lectures on Health.—Three lectures were given
during the year on:
" How Public Health Work Pays," by Dr. James
Fenton.
"Food: Its Dangers and Uses," by Dr. Charles
S. Thomson.
" New Outlook in Public Health," by the Medical
Officer of Health, to mothers.
