Borough, and, in the event of finding chemical preservatives, in
quantity likely to injure health, to report to them with the view to
a prosecution.
The object of this notice is to point out to those who are
unaware that the employment of chemical preservatives may lead to
injury to health, that if preservative powders are used at all, their
use must be kept within strict limitations.
I am, etc.,
The result of this letter has been a considerable falling-off in
the use in Stoke Newington of these preservatives.
There are at present 26 sausage makers in the Borough, and the
meat used by them has been found to be wholesome on every occasion
of inspection during 1907.
HOUSES LET IN LODGINGS.
In the Borough of Stoke Newington, more especially in the
Southern Division, there is a considerable number of houses let in
lodgings under circumstances and conditions which render it desirable,
in the interest of personal and public health, that they should be
registered and inspected at frequent intervals.
By the end of the year 1907, 243 premises were on the Register,
and during the year all registered premises were duly inspected.
FACTORIES AND WORKSHOPS.
At the end of the year 1907 there were on the Register 245
worshops and work-places.
