A Conference of representatives of the City and Metropolitan
Borough Councils convened by the Paddington Borough Council,
"on the question of taking measures to limit the spread of Pulmonary
Tuberculosis (Consumption)," was held at the Town Hall, Paddington,
on the 6th June, 1907. Twenty-six City and Borough Councils,
out of 29, were represented by 61 delegates. The Mayor of Paddington
presided.
The resolutions passed were (in substance) as follows: —
"That it is desirable that the notification of Pulmonary
Tuberculosis (Consumption) should be compulsory.
"That application be made to the Local Government Board
for an order to be made:
(i.) To include Pulmonary Tuberculosis (Consumption)
among the diseases to be notified under Section 55 of the
Public Health (London) Act, 1891; and
(ii.) To extend the provisions of the following Sections of the
above Act to Pulmonary Tuberculosis (Consumption):
