The sickness and mortality rates from infectious diseases were
both low and were very similar to those for the preceding year, notwithstanding
the fact that during the latter part of the year
Diphtheria, mostly of a mild type, became exceptionally prevalent in
the Southern Division of the Parish, and the precaution of temporary
school closure had to be applied.
The Report of the work done by the Sanitary Inspectors
(Messrs. Matthews & Kemp), which is appended to this Report,
constitutes, in my opinion, a satisfactory record of work performed
during the year.
