WORKS IN DEFAULT
Works were carried out by the Council on 53 occasions during the year indefault
of persons on whom notices were served requiring the execution ofworks. They comprised
35 instances offai]ure to comply with notices served under Section 17, Public Health
Act, 1961 regarding cliok'ed drains, 4 for failure to comply with notices served under
Section 75 of the Public Health Act, 1936 with respect to the provision of dustbins,
13 instances of failure to comply with notices served under Section 4 of the Prevention
of Damage by Pests Act, 1949 for clearance of refuse from sites and erection of
corrugated steel fencing, and one for the repair or renewal of water service pipe to
water closet cistern after failure tocomply with notice under Greater London Council
(General Powers) Act 1967, Section 23.

environmental health services.
