things, which seems to point to the value of isolation (following
notification) as an important preventive measure in
this disease.

The age and sex incidence and mortality for the 1428 Scarlet Fever cases notified in Lambeth Borough during 1908 are as follow:—

It will be noted that, of the total 1428 persons reported as
suffering from Scarlet Fever during 1908 within the Borough
of Lambeth, 368 (i.e., 25.8 per cent.) were under five years of
age, and 962 (i.e., 67.4 per cent.) under 10 years of age:
whilst the mortality was greatest amongst those between 1
and 2 years of age. Of the 466 persons over 10 years of age,
4 (i.e., 0.9 per cent.) died.
The distribution of the cases of, and the mortality from,
Scarlet Fever amongst the different New Registration Sub-
