Retirement Advice Clinic
This clinic continued to operate during 1962, and with the cooperation
of the local offices of the Ministry of Pensions and National
Insurance, men approaching 65 years of age were invited to attend
for medical examination and advice as to how they might best enjoy
their retirement.
Sessions and attendances were as follows:-

DOMESTIC HELP SERVICE
(Section 29)
The total number of cases provided with home help during the
year was 2028, which was again a record. The number of new
cases is tending to decline slightly and the bulk of the work continues
to be with old people who need permanent help.
A free service for mothers suffering from toxaemia in pregnancy
was given in four cases.
The total number of home visits made by the Home Help
Organiser and her assistants during the year was 4710. This was
less than the previous year owing to sickness and shortage of staff.
A neighbourly help service was started during the year and
potential good neighbours have been interviewed. Generally speaking,
however, it has been found that neighbours who are already carrying
