Vaccination against Smallpox
The percentage of children under one year of age vaccinated
against smallpox during the year was 49.6% compared with 48.7% for
1960.
The following table records the number of persons known to have been vaccinated or re-vaccinated during the year by general practitioners and clinic medical officers in Hornsey:-

Immunisation against Diphtheria, Tetanus and Whooping
Cough
The scheme for immunising children against diphtheria, whooping
cough and tetanus using a triple antigen was continued during 1961.
It has called for very careful programming to fit in with other
prophylactic measures and the parents of all children in the Area
have been offered appointments as soon as their children have reached
the age of two months. There is provision for following up defaulters
to achieve maximum acceptance rates. Parents have the option of
taking their children to their own family doctors for immunisation or
attending at the clinics, and the tables on the next page show the
results in Hornsey.
