Teachers' Courses.
A Lecture-demonstration Course for Men Teachers and for Women
Teachers interested in Junior and Senior Boys' work, was held during
the Spring Term. Forty-nine teachers, including twelve head teachers,
attended the course.
The demonstrations were given by children from six schools, and
showed progressive work from the lowest Junior to the top Senior
Class. The demonstrations were of two types: (a) a complete lesson,
(b) an analysis.
A second course of Dancing was held for women teachers.
Evening Classes.
Physical Education is being carried out regularly and systematically
in all the Pre-Service Organisations.
Efforts have been made to interest youth members from the
voluntary Organisations in Physical Education, but results have not
been encouraging. The shortage of suitable and well-qualified leaders
is acute, and it is difficult to establish classes. The regular flow of
young men and women into the Services has resulted in a continuing
change of personnel in the classes which has tended to interrupt
progressive training.
Six evening classes have been in operation during the season.
Holidays at Home.
At the Open Air Pool a Splash Night was organised particularly
for children and youths. Boys and girls competed from all Departments
where swimming had been taught. In spite of showery weather
demonstrations of Physical Training were given by Senior Boys and
Girls. All these efforts were appreciated by the parents and friends in
attendance. '
