HOUSING REPAIRS AND OVERCROWDING.
The care of tit houses by the early detection and repair of
defects, and the prevention and alleviation of overcrowding, are
important aspects of housing which have received the unremitting
attention of the Health Committee and Department throughout
the year.
Cases of ovnrcrowding are relieved whenever suitable accommodation
can he found or when rearrangement of rooms or
families is practicable.
Whilst new cases of overcrowding are found from time to
time, it must be remembered that these arc few in number in
relation to the 20,000 and more inhabited houses in the Borough.
Thus T think it can be fairly claimed that in Hornsey the
provision of homes, the social service upon which the success
of all other social services must depend, is sound and satisfactory.
HORNSEY HOUSING TRUST.
I desire to acknowledge the good and growing work of the
Hornsey Housing Trust, Ltd., in providing accommodation in
the case of families not eligible for Council houses and unable to
fitul suitable accommodation privately.

extending over a period of five years: —
