Voluntary Committees.
It would not be possible to carry on the work at the Centres
so effectively were it not for the work of the ladies who so generously
give their time and services and collect funds for voluntary
assistance to mothers and babies. Their help given in this
direction includes holidays at convalescent homes, surgical
instrument, massage, dental treatment, home helps, etc. The
Fathers' and Mothers' Committee also do valuable work in providing
funds as the outcome of their social gatherings.
Toddlers' Playroom.
The Toddlers' Playroom, started in November, 1931, and
conducted at no expense to the Council by Miss Benn at the Highgate
Centre, continues to be a success. The Playroom is open
each morning from Monday to Friday and the maximum attendance
is 18. There are 21 between the ages of 2 and 5 on the
rolls and the total attendances made during the year was 2,809.
