The following is a statement of the work done by the
"Borough Ambulance " under the Fire Brigade:—

MATERNAL MORTALITY.
Circular 1,167 and Memo. 156 M.C.W. from the Ministry
of Health has received the M.C.W. Committee's close attention.
All the services suggested in this Circular are available in the
Borough and are working smoothly.
As requested by Circular 1,206 of the Ministry of Health,
full details of the conditions and arrangements in regard to the
health visiting of children from birth to school age were set out
in my Report for 1931.
CHILDREN ACT, 1908, AND
CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS ACT, 1932,
An Act, entitled the Children and Young Persons Act, 1932,
was passed to amend the Children Act, 1908. The part dealing
with infant life protection came into force on 1st February, 1933.
The work under these Acts is carried out by the Health
Visitors in their respective areas.
Foster-mothers are encouraged to bring the children to the
centres for periodical medical examination.

A register of foster-mothers and foster-children is kept bythe Medical Officer of Health at each Centre, and the following is a summary of the register:—
