Complaints. — Complaints were received in respect of 371
alleged nuisances. All the premises concerned were inspected
and, where nuisances were found, the necessary steps were taken
to have them abated.

Rent and Mortgage Interest (Restriction) Acts.—Two formal
applications for certificates under these Acts were received.
In each instance the necessary repairs were carried out by the
owners.

The premises where petrol is stored are visited regularly and
a list with particulars is sent to the Superintendent of the Fire
Brigade each year.
Petroleum (Consolidation) Act, 1928.—This Act, which came
into force on the 4th August, brings within the compass of a single
statute all the existing provisions dealing with the subject of
petroleum spirit, and deals with the control of erection of pumps
and filling-stations to prevent disfigurement of rural scenery.
