The number of deaths from tuberculosis in Hornsey has
fallen during the past five years from 87 in 1921 to 51 in 1925
—the death-rate per 1,000 population in 1925 was 06. In
1924 the death-rate in England and Wales for tuberculosis (all
forms) was 1.05.
A detailed list of new cases of, and deaths from, Tuberculosis
will be found in Table H. (p. 44).
No action has had to be taken during the year either with
regard to tuberculous employees in the milk trade or with regard
to the compulsory removal to hospital of persons suffering
from tuberculosis in an infectious stage.
Midwives.—The Hornsey Town Council appointed a municipal midwife in 1921. Her services have been increasingly popular in the Borough, as the following record of cases attended shows: —
