Free Milk under Child Wislfahh Act.—Permission was
given on lllli September for the provision of free milk to necessitous
mothers and. children, and marked benefit lias accrued,
particularly to nureing Mothers.
CO-OPERATION WITH OTHER INSTITUTIONS.—Co-oporatioil has
Wen established with the following Institutions:—
1. Great Northern Hospital.—Children requiring hospital
treatment are put weekly on a special list. Their names are
telephoned to the Almoner of the Hospital, and the children are
thus seen as far as possible by special appointment, thus saving
the Mothers waiting all day, which so frequently occurs ah tha
Out Patients Departments of Hospitals. The scheme has worked
well in tliq majority of cases, and when it has done so is highly
satisfactory.
2. Duchess of Marlborough's Maternity Hospital (under the
management of the Royal Free Hospital).—Mothers who require
institutional care or who are unable to make adequate provision
at home for their confinements are sent to this Home. This plan
was at first tried tentatively, and as it worked so satisfactorily
was officially recognised by the Municipal Authorities, who undertook
to subsidise it financially.
M. Dental Treatment.—Children who require consultative
advice have been seen by the Consulting Dentist of the Great
Northern Hospital. Mothers are seen by arrangement with a
private Dentist.
