Scarlet Fever.—The number of cases notified in Hornsey
during 1913 was 206, and of these 155 (equal to 75 per cent. of the
cases notified) were admitted to the Isolation Hospital.
There were also 86 cases of Scarlet Fever admitted from
Finchley and 160 from Wood Green.
There were two deaths in the Hospital from Scarlet Fever
during the year, giving a case mortality of 0.4 per cent. of the cases
of Scarlet Fever under treatment, and one of the Scarlet Fever
patients died from Heart Disease of old standing.
Diphtheria.—There were 115 cases of Diphtheria notified in
the Borough during the year, and of these 84 cases (equal to 73
per cent. of those notified) were admitted to the Isolation Hospital.
There were also 37 cases of Diphtheria admitted from Finchley,
5b from Wood Green, and 1 from Friern Barnet.
There were 8 deaths in the Hospital during the year from
Diphtheria, giving a case mortality of 4.2 per cent. of the cases
of Diphtheria under treatment.
Enteric Fever.—There were ten cases of this disease notified
in the Borough during the year, and of these 5 (equal to 50 per
cent. of the cases notified) were admitted to the Borough Hospital.
There was also one case of Enteric Fever admitted from Finchley.
There were two deaths in the Hospital during the year from
Enteric Fever, giving a case mortality of 22'2 per cent. of the cases
of Enteric Fever under treatment.
