Population.—The estimated population at the middle of
1913 was 88,160. At the middle of 1912 the estimated population
was 85,522. The gain during the twelve months 1912-1913 is,
therefore, 2,638 persons, which is equal to an increase of 3'08 per
cent.
The gain during the preceding twelve months 1911-1912 was
826 persons, equal to 0'9 per cent., so that the rate of increase has
been much greater during 1912-1913 than in the preceding year,
and is the highest since the year 1903-4.
The enumerated population at the date of the last census,
April 1st, 1911, was 84,592, and the gain in the years from
the date of the Census to June 30th, 1913, has been 3,568.
